Description | Round, wooden Katsina doll. The face is painted white with a border of red, black and yellow. The mouth is protruding and split, dividing it into three projections. The top and back of the head are painted black with stubby, red ears on the sides. A black and red dress is painted over the body. This figure is the Corn Planter (Koroasta) Katsina, borrowed from the Laguna. (Colton, H. 1959 #173, Wright, B., 1973 #101) |
