| Description | Sommerville: Antique paste cameo, color white on pale ruby. Silenus and Bacchus. Antique Pastes, Case YYY. Vermeule: Glass paste, imitating Sardonyx. White on pale red. (Unmounted) Design identical with that of 1154. The workmanship however is cruder, and perhaps the mold for this paste was copied or impressed from the older, more carefully executed design. Graeco-Roman, imitating a Hellenistic composition. |
