Description

Fighting cap. "[War-cap] of rattan and split bamboo." (Furness, The Home-Life of Borneo Head-Hunters, following p. 92) Woven rattan base covered with spotted civit cat skin. Peaked top of yellow and black beadwork. "Face" composed of round shell eye and oval shell nose, mouth with cowrie shell teeth and four leopard tooth fangs, flanked by hanks of orangutan hair. Black and white tail feather of rhinoceros hornbill (P1139B).
